We know that receiving Lip Fillers is a BIG DEAL and it can be a bit nerve-racking! Here's what to expect during your visit:

• Description of different gel fillers
• Description of treatment technique
• Discussion of risks
• Review of aftercare instructions
• Pre-treatment numbing cream and ice pack
• Before & After photos

Lip Filler injections are generally well-tolerated, but mild or moderate discomfort may be encountered. We'll do everything we can for you to make sure you're comfortable during your visit, including:

• Topical numbing cream (e.g. lidocaine, betacaine, & tetracaine mixture)
• Ice-pack, pre and post-treatment
• Lidocaine mixture within the gel filler solution
• Dental block (occasionally)

No, most hyaluronic Lip Fillers are prepared for sterile, non-pyrogenic use in 1mL syringes. It's generally unsafe to transfer gel filler into half syringes for multiple uses.

Most patients easily tolerate 1mL of Lip Filler without looking overdone or unnatural. If there is left-over product at the end of your treatment, we may use it in another treatment area, or store it for future use as a touch-up.

We use a handful of Hyaluronic Fillers for lip injections. They differ in a number of ways, particularly by particle size and cross-linking.

Some Lip Fillers are more favorable for adding volume (e.g. Juvederm Volbella), while others may be best for creating definition (e.g. Restylane Defyne).

Sometimes a combination of products gives best results. Our experienced providers will identify which Lip Filler will work best for you, based on your exam.

Lip Fillers typically last 8-12 months, or longer.

Results may vary based on age, lip size, metabolism, smoking, sun exposure, injector technique, and amount of product used.

One syringe of Filler is often long-lasting for most patients. However, some patients may simply need more product to reach the desired result.

We recommend following up at 6-month intervals to evaluate your progress. Best results are observed with serial treatments or regular touch-ups.

Yes, you can receive more than one syringe of Lip Filler at a time. However, it's generally best to start with 1 syringe, see how you respond, and then add more Filler if needed. Give your lips 2 weeks to heal before receiving additional lip injections.

Our providers are trained in the most up to date injection techniques including the Russian Technique.

The Russian Technique (sometimes referred to as "Fencing Technique," or "Column Technique," or "Vertical Stacking") can be useful for establishing vertical height in the lips, while avoiding a wider, or "sausage-like" appearance.

Your provider will use a combination of different injection techniques to create your final result.

Lip Filler migration is when lip filler moves beyond its intended boundary and into the surrounding lip tissue.

Migration can occur at any time after the injection procedure. Migration may or may not be visibly noticeable, and may occur in differing degrees.

Lip Filler migration can be addressed with dissolving injections, if needed. If you've experienced Lip Filler migration in the past, you may be at risk for it again in the future.

Yes, Lip Fillers can be dissolved with injectable hyaluronidase (Hylenex). Hyaluronidase is a naturally-existing enzyme in the body which breaks down hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronidase injections are used occasionally  to correct small bumps or unevenness in the lips, or to address filler migration.
